Photos of a trike aerotowing a hang glider, and other related photos, at Beck's field near Yoder (Oregon), March 19 2006. These photos were taken by Jim Norton, and you can navigate to the rest of Jim's photoblog from these links. #1, #2, #3, #4 (me!)

Photos of myself preparing to launch, and launching, a Raven powered harness from Peterson Butte, March 12 2006. Photos courtesy of Dan Thomas, who was flying an R.C. glider at the site. Thanks Russ VanLandingham for the opportunity to fly your Raven power harness and U-2 160 glider. Preparation, launch

Who's the space alien now? (Dog Mountain, Washington). Note the mother ship streaking down in the upper left corner. This photo was taken by a non-pilot photographer; unfortunately I can't provide a credit as I don't know his name.

Preparing to fly Vim Toutenhoofd's Swift foot-launchable ultralight sailplane (Quest Flight Park, Florida). The fuselage fairing has been left off to make it easier to judge the landing pattern on my first flight in this unusual, fragile aircraft (and also for other reasons relating to my experimental interests--see the experimental photo gallery and theory section of this website for more). Thank you Vim for the opportunity to fly the Swift.

In flight in the Swift...(Quest Flight Park, Florida).

Back on the ground after flying the Swift...#1 (Quest Flight Park, Florida).

Back on the ground after flying the Swift...#2 (Quest Flight Park, Florida). Note the yaw string with the little paper cone on the end, as noted in the experimental photo gallery. P.S. Thanx Junko for the loan of the rudder pedal extensions--when flying an aircraft for the first time, the first rule is to be comfortable in the cockpit!

Strange creatures--Swifts and Swift pilots... (Quest Flight Park, Florida).

I've been experimenting with a variable-geometry Zagi (see the experiments photo gallery for more):

With anhedral...

And with dihedral...

Pete's been experimenting with a variable-geometry hang glider. I think that's too much dihedral, Pete! #1 , #2 , #3 , #4 , #5
