Order of other major sections of this article re-arranged but minimal changes in their content, except addition of note that the wind direction display is only computed to the nearest 30-degree increment.

 

*New section added: "Photo gallery--the 'Bright Spot', the earth's shadow, and other interesting optical phenomena".

 

*Improvements to intro page. 2 links added to "Links" page including balloon-lifted high-altitude radio-controlled semi-autonomous model glider project. 18 photos added to general photo gallery including photos of Prairie Mountain (Oregon) and photos of hang glider accidentally "modified" with dihedral. 3 photos added to experimental photo gallery.

 

September 2004: 

 

*Significant revisions to "Notes on the glide ratio functions of the Garmin Etrex Vista and GPSMap 76S".  The most significant change was the recognition that the current-glide-ratio display on the Garmin Etrex Vista and GPSMap 76S is not a time-averaged value, or is averaged over a very short time interval.  Earlier editions of this article stated otherwise.

 

*Significant revisions to "Using a GPS while hang gliding".  The most significant changes were the addition of a note about how to avoid accidentally switching on the electronic magnetic compass function of the Garmin Etrex Vista, and the addition of some comments about the pro's and con's of the Garmin Etrex line in general.

 

*New article added: "Log of additions and revisions to website".

 

August 2004:
